The Salcha River is also a tributary to the Tanana River. The only road access to the river is near its confluence with the Tanana. Several airstrips along the river allow some remote fishing opportunities. There are fair runs of King and Chum Salmon on the Salcha, but the Arctic Grayling fishing is excellent. |
The Salcha is a clear scenic river. The Grayling are good sized and plentiful. Though rarely over 17 inches, most fish average around 14 inches. |
